Mathur Hanging Trough/ Bridge: It’s the adventurous yet exciting tourist spot in Kanyakumari that for one moment will enthrall you with its stunning architecture. The construction of this bridge took place in 1966 across the River Parazhiyar. It’s is the tallest yet longest bridge in Asia that is 115 feet high and 1 kilometer long.

Padmanabhapuram Palace: It’s nearby the place Thuckalay - a township in the district of Kanyakumari. The palace is made of granite and has its edges across 4 kms. Tucked in the foothills of the Veli Hills, this palace has panoramic views.



Now the palace is being managed under the Archeological Department of Kerala. The palace is said to be the dwelling of the erstwhile Travancore ruler before the capital city was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. The exterior outlook of the palace reflects the architecture of Kerala.

When to Visit Kanyakumari?

Though the city is a year round destination, the best time to visit Kanyakumari is from December to February. At this period the weather climate remains pleasant and temperature hovers minimum 17 degree Celsius to maximum 32 degree Celsius.

Woraiyur Vekkali Amman Temple: Amman, the main goddess, facing the north. The ancient kings believed that the Gods and Goddesses facing the north would bless the kings with triumph while in the battle. 

This is the main reason why most of the kings prays Vekkali Amman before the battle. This temple was built by Gochenkan Chola. This shrine does not feature any roof.

Janagai Mari Amman Temple: Nestled upon the banks of Vaigai River, this temple is located at a distance of 16 kms from Madurai. It is an ancient shrine which dates back since 2000 years old. Here the goddess originated naturally as a Swayambu. People hold a belief that she safeguards each of the 48 villages around this temple. 

Visitors from all parts of the world come here to get rid of obstacles and pray for cure against small pox, high farm yields, wedding, good education and heal from other physical disabilities. The shrine remains open from 6 am to 12 noon and between 4 pm to 9 pm.

Vandiyoor Mari Amman Temple: Situated on the banks of Vaigai River, this shrine is located at a distance of 3 kms from the well known Meenakshi Temple. 

This is an ancient temple and is around 2000 years old. This temple is widely visited by tourists from all over the globe. The shrine opens between 6 am to 9 pm constantly.
